How to Replace a Power Steering Hose on a 1000 Chrysler 300M

The Chrysler 300 is a large full-size sedan. There are three power steering hoses on the power steering components: one hose running from the power steering fluid container to the power steering pump, two hoses at the bottom of the power steering pump, one output hose and one input hose. The hose running from the fluid container to the pump allows fluid to circulate in the pump, the output hose allows fluid into the valve and the input hose allows fluid into the power steering components.

Things You'll Need

  • Floor jack
  • Drain container
  • Wrench set
  • Replacement power steering hoses
  • Jack the front right side of the Chrysler 300 off of the ground. Place the drain container under the valve that the input and output lines are connected to. Use the wrench set to disconnect the two hoses from the valve. Allow the fluid to drain for 10 minutes.

  • Open the hood and use the wrench set to remove the hose running from the fluid container to the power steering pump by loosening the securing nut at the top and bottom of the hose. Pull the hose from the engine compartment. Replace the old hose with the new hose in the opposite manner that you removed it.

  • Remove the two hoses from the bottom of the power steering pump using the wrench set. Replace the two hoses on the bottom of the power steering pump with the new hoses. Lead the new power steering pump hoses to the valve under the Chrysler 300 and connect them using the wrench set.
