How to Clear the Maintenance Required Light on a 2005 Acura

All 2005 Acura models are equipped with a maintenance reminder system. When a scheduled service, such as an oil change, is due, a light will flash on your speedometer cluster ("MAINT. REQ'D"). If you have the vehicle serviced at an Acura dealership, the service department will usually reset it for you. However, if you're having it serviced somewhere else, you may have to reset the light yourself. The procedure is basically the same in all 2005 Acura vehicles, including the TSX, TL and MDX.

  • Turn the engine off and remove the key from the ignition.

  • Press and hold the "Select" and "Reset" buttons on your speedometer cluster. Some Acura models have one button instead of two. Either way, press and hold the applicable button(s).

  • Insert the key back in the ignition (while holding the buttons) and turn it to ignition position "II" (don't crank the engine).

  • Continue to hold the button(s) for approximately ten seconds until the light flashes and turns off.
