How to Calibrate a Saturn Vue Compass

Some Saturn Vue models come with an auto-dimming compass mirror. This mirror can help point you in the right direction when traveling; however, it needs to be calibrated from time to time. When your Vue's compass needs to be calibrated, "CAL" will be shown in your compass display. You can also manually change the compass to calibration mode, if you want to practice the calibration procedure.

  • Find a parking lot or area with little to no traffic. You'll need to drive in an awkward manner to calibrate the compass.

  • Inspect the compass display on the right-corner of your rear view mirror. If the display reads "CAL," continue. If not, hold down the "On" button for 10 seconds, until the display reads "CAL."

  • Drive around in a relatively small circle for a few minutes. Let your Vue coast (do not apply the gas); stay at a speed of 5 mph or less.

  • Wait for the compass to display a direction (NE, S, SW, etc). Once the compass displays a direction, it is calibrated.
