How to Remove the Front Wheel Bearing on a Buick Rendezvous

Removing the wheel bearings off a Buick Rendezvous is a very detailed task. You can determine a bad wheel bearing when driving. The wheel bearings will make a roaring noise when you accelerate. The faster you go the louder, the noise. When the wheel bearing starts to go, the wheel itself will feel wobbly. This is an indication that your bearings are ready to be replaced. The bearings are built into the hub assembly. It is easier to replace the whole assembly than have the new bearings pressed into the old assembly.

Things You'll Need

  • Car jack
  • Chock
  • Tire tool
  • Torx wrench
  • Socket set
  • Socket wrench
  • Jack up the front end of the car. You can jack it up from the ridged spot underneath the door.

  • Remove the wheel by loosening the lug nuts with the tire tool. Place the tire out of the way.

  • Remove the caliper from the rotor by unscrewing the bolts in the back of the caliper with a torx bit.

  • Pop the dust cover off the center of the rotor assembly with a flat-head screwdriver. The dust cover will come right off as there is a slot for sliding the screwdriver in and popping the cover out.

  • Remove the rotor. It should slide off.

  • Unbolt the hub assembly with a socket wrench. There will be four bolts to remove. The bearings are installed into the hub assembly.
