How to Replace an Air Filter in a Acura Integra

A clean filter air allows air to freely flow to the engine which increases gas mileage and engine life span. An air filter should be changed every 3,000 miles when the car is driven in very dusty conditions, or every 30,000 for normal driving conditions. Replacing an air filter in a Acura Integra can be done in under 10 minutes.

  • Turn the Integra off. Keep the car off to maintain safety from engine backfires while the air filter is out, or serious injury can occur.

  • Lift the hood of the Acura. Locate the air filter housing unit on the passenger side of the car, just behind the engine coolant reservoir. Look for a black plastic box that is nearly the size of an adult size shoe box.

  • Loosen the clips on the sides of the air filter housing unit to remove the lid. Take the lid off the unit.

  • Take the old filter from the housing unit by lifting it out. Clean any remaining debris out of the air filter box. Wipe all surfaces of the housing unit with a damp cloth.

  • Place the new air filter in the housing unit. Use a K&N air filter, part number E-2427, for an Acura manufactured during the years 1994 to 2001. Locate older or newer Integra air filters online or at your local auto supply store.

  • Replace the lid on the housing unit. Reattach the clips to secure the lid in place.
