PT Cruiser Battery Specs

Chrysler first released the PT Cruiser in 2001. The vehicle's retro look caught the attention of many buyers. The PT in the name stands for "Personal Transport" and served as the car's production code. In 2005, the PT convertible joined the lineup for a few years before being discontinued in 2007. In 2009, Chrysler announced the gradual discontinuation of the main model.

Mopar

  • Chrysler recommends the use of Mopar parts for all of its vehicles. Mopar offers a 700-amp or a 510-amp battery in size group 26R for the PT Cruiser. These batteries have 510 cold-cranking amps. It features 90 minutes of reserve time, 720 cranking amps at 0 degrees F and 910 cranking amps at 32 degrees F. It measures 9.31 inches by 6.81 inches by 7.63 inches. It weighs 39.5 lbs. It has molded cell connections, self-sealing safety valves and high purity lead grids. The case is impact-resistant polypropylene.

Motorcraft

  • A cheaper alternative to the Optima Redtop is the battery by Motorcraft. This battery lists for $84, as of December 2010. It has 525 cold cranking amps, and 81 reserve minutes. It is engineered to be reliable and durable and comes with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty.
