While decals often add a custom look and cool graphics to a vehicle, they have a limited lifespan. The sun's rays, rain, snow, and other elements eventually take their toll and the decals need to be removed. The task of removing decals form a vehicle does not require great skill or special tools, but it will require patience and diligence.
Set your blow dryer to the setting which gives the hottest air. Starting at one edge of the decal, begin to heat the edge by pointing the blow dryer at it from about two inches away.
Heat up the decal and the adhesive underneath by moving the blow dryer in a circular pattern so that you cover about a 4- to 6-square-inch area.
Use your other hand and attempt to get your thumbnail under the edge to lift it up. Be careful as it is hot. Grasp the edge of the decal between your thumb and forefinger.
Pull off the decal very slow, increasing pressure as you go, but being careful not to break it off. Work the blow dryer so that it is just ahead of the area you are trying to pull up.
Use a tar or bug remover from a local auto parts store on any glue residue that is left behind once you get the decal itself off. Wash and wax your vehicle to finish the job.
