In 2005, Buick released the all-new LaCrosse as the replacement for two aging sedans in its lineup: the Century and Regal. The 2006 LaCrosse came standard with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine that produced 200 horsepower, or an optional 3.6-liter V-6 with 240-horsepower. The LaCrosse used an oil-life monitoring system to alert you when it's time to change the oil. The resetting process for this system depends on whether your LaCrosse has a Driver's Information Center or not.
With the ignition in the "On" or "Run" position and the engine off, press and release the "Option" button -- the button with "i" on it -- on the DIC interface until the DIC screen displays "Engine Oil Monitor." Press and release the "Set/Reset " button -- the button with the left-pointing arrow on it -- on the DIC interface and a screen will appear, alerting you that you have successfully reset the "Change Oil Soon" message.
Turn the ignition to the "Run" position, but do not start the engine. Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and release it three times within five seconds of turning the key to the "Run" position. Turn the ignition to the "Off" position, then start the vehicle and verify that the "Change Oil Soon" message no longer shows.
