The Ford Taurus is a mid-size sedan that is perfect for families or anyone who needs some space. Checking the tire pressure of a Taurus is important for the safety of the vehicle and everyone onboard and should be done monthly.
Allow your tires to cool. If you are checking the tire pressure of your Taurus directly after driving the car, you will not have an accurate reading of the tire pressure. Give your tires some time to cool down before you check the pressure.
Remove the valve cap on each tire. This cap is an important piece of the wheel, so don't want to lose it. Remove it from the valve, so you have space to apply the gauge. But make sure that you put it in a safe space such as you pocket, so that you don't lose it.
Insert the gauge onto the valve for a few seconds, then read the number that is illuminated on the screen or that popped out on a stick gauge. Ford recommends a psi level of 26 to 36 for the Taurus. Check the other tires. Once you have checked one tire, check the other three tires on your Taurus to make sure that they are all at safe levels.
Increase or decrease the air pressure on the tires, after comparing the pressure levels with the recommended pressure amounts.
