The Road Demon Jr.
0307 HRDP 03 Z DEMON

Barry Grant just keeps coming out with more and more variants of his Demon carburetor platform. From most-expensive/most-features to the least-expensive/most-basic, it goes like this: King Demon, Sea Demon, Race Demon, Mighty Demon, Crate Engine Demon, Speed Demon, Road Demon, and now the newest, the Road Demon Jr.

Why? The company wanted to offer a carburetor for those with mildly built or nearly stock engines who still want the advantages of a Demon carburetor, but don't want to pay a lot for one. The Road Jr. comes in sizes of 525, 625, and 725 cfm, and the versions with universal linkage all sell for just $259.95 at Summit Racing (as of press time). Here's what you get, plus some of the differences as compared to the more expensive Demon carbs.

1. The fuel bowls use side-hung floats rather than center-hung. This also makes the Jr. more compact for inline use in dual-quad applications.

2. Instead of dual-feed inlet, the fuel is supplied to the secondary bowl with a transfer tube sealed with dual O-rings.

3. All Road Demon Jr. carbs come without a choke plate. The manual-choke kit is about $35 extra.

4. The base plate is cast with support ribs rather than cut from billet, which is used on the remainder of the Demon line.

5. The secondary side of the carb has a non-jettable metering plate rather than a metering block.

6. All Road Jr. carbs have vacuum secondaries.

In addition, the Jr. versions retain the Demon's compound-curve, patented air inlet shape and venturii that are concentric with the boosters. Each of the carbs are wet-flowed before shipping, and they come with a tuning manual and video.
