[May The Gforce Be With You]The most recent addition to the BFGoodrich brand's first family of performance, the g-Force T/AKDW is engineered to deliver an exceptional balance of capabilities in both wet and dry conditions. Compared with the Comp T/A ZR, the brand's venerable all-round top-level performer, the g-Force T/AKDW is significantly better overall in wet traction and handling, as well as resistance to hydroplaning. The new tire shows marked improvements in on-center steering response and feel, driver feedback, and lap times on a dry road course.
The tread design is unidirectional, which contributes substantially to the tire's excellent wet and dry traction. Its deep, wide circumferential grooves and sharply angled lateral grooves speed water evacuation and reduce hydroplaning for superb wet performance. Large block elements enhance stability, wear and handling under high-torque conditions. The interior sides of the individual tread blocks are reinforced for improved cornering and a better worn appearance when the tire is driven hard.

Tall, high-volume g-Control sidewall inserts are used to resist deflection, generate tremendous cornering forces and provide lateral firmness. Dimensionally stable polyester carcass plies and the BFGoodrich brand's patented ETEC system give the tire excellent strength, a consistent footprint, a maximized tread contact area and a smooth ride. (The ETEC System, which stands for Equal Tension Containment, controls distortion when the tire is subjected to high centrifugal forces.).
Also critical to the performance of the g-Force T/AKDW is the blend from the flat crown to the drop in the shoulder. This feature contributes to the tire's progressive breakaway characteristic, predictability and good feedback at the limit of adhesion, all of which are very important in ultra-high-performance driving.
The g-Force T/AKDW currently is available in 16 sizes, including two designated SSS for "self-supporting structure," which means that the tire has run-flat capabilities and can travel up to 200 miles at 55 mph when it's completely deflated, depending on load and conditions. An additional eight sizes are slated for 2000.
