2003 To 2007 Cummins Performance Upgrades
Nothing can ruin a perfectly good truck like the temptation of adding a cheap power upgrade. If a diesel engine gets the wrong parts, or even if the right part is installed before the vehicle (or owner) is ready—trouble is bound to follow. In this article, we walked the slippery slope of diesel performance but knew which path to take and when to stop—so we didn’t go sliding all the way to the bottom. We wanted to make sure the equipment we put on our ’06 Dodge Ram 2500 didn’t hurt anything and instead would help accomplish our goals of maintaining the proven durability of our Dodge—while increasing performance.

Our ’06 5.9L Ram was in Florida when we did the upgrades, so we called upon Nick Dragunov and Jamie Wilson of Ultimate Diesel in Sarasota to give us a hand. The first thing they did to make working on our Dodge easier was to remove the front driver-side wheel and fenderwell. Then they took the $289 S&B cold-air intake (PN: 75-5047) from the box and checked its fit. The part shown is the optional ram-air scoop (PN: 75-5049).
