Polk Audio System - Sound Logic
A nice thing about these Polk audio speakers is the price. You get great sound without the need for expensive components or tricky crossovers. With four two-way replacement speakers, a versatile dual voice coil subwoofer, and a compact 500-watt amp, we were ready to push our Silverado to a new level of audio excellence.
No matter how cushy and luxurious a project truck's interior is, it's not complete without a proper sound system. In the case of Project Blue Bomber, our base-model 2011 Silverado, we had already added sound deadening, new carpet, and leather seating, so the comfort department was certainly handled. Now, it was time to install a sound system that would convince us we had stepped into a concert hall each time we got behind the wheel. For this task, we called up Polk Audio and ordered a full set of audio gear: two 6½-inch DXi650 replacement door speakers, two 4x6-inch DXi460p replacement rear speakers, a 10-inch DXi104 dual voice coil subwoofer, and a D5000.5 900-watt five-channel amp. To output audio to the amp, we chose a Pioneer AVIC-D3 touchscreen head unit we had left over from a previous project. As with our earlier Blue Bomber interior upgrades, the entire install was handled by the expert techs at Audio Innovations in Glendora, California. | Here's the head unit we chose to feed our new Polk Audio system, a 6.1-inch touchscreen Pioneer AVIC-D3. With the new head unit, 500-watt amp, four two-way speakers, and a custom-mounted 10-inch sub, our project Silverado sounds truly incredible. The new sound system has crisp highs, thunderous lows, and plenty of power to shake our standard cab Chevy all day long. What more could you ask for?
