Competition products calls its x-beam rod the ultimate Duramax connecting rod. Its design is said to reduce weight while providing more strength and durability. Constructed from aircraft-quality 4340 steel, a hole is burned from the top of the rod bearing journal to the wrist pin bushing for extra oil supply and optimum cooling, courtesy of an electrical discharge machining laser. The rods are also shot-peened, heat-treated, and come with caps that are double ribbed for added strength.
