How to Program a Lincoln Town Car Remote

With its full-size body, luxurious detailing and powerful V-8 engine, the Lincoln Town Car focuses on comfort and ease for the driver. An often overlooked comfort feature is the keyless entry provided by a wireless remote, which allows you to unlock your Town Car from a distance. If you have lost your old remote or want to program a second one, you can manually program the keyless remote to work with any Town Car model that offers the feature. You will need the correct model remote for that particular year model.

Things You'll Need

  • Keyless remote
  • Ignition key
  • Make sure all the doors are shut, then open the driver's side door and click the door panel unlock button.

  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "Run" or "On" position (so the car is turned on but the engine is not running). Repeat this step seven more times so that that you have turned the ignition key from "Off" to "On" a total of eight times in 10 seconds, except on the eighth and final key turn, turn it all the way to the "Run" position (so you start the car engine). The doors will lock and unlock to confirm this step was done correctly.

  • Press any button on the original remote. This must be done within 20 seconds, and the doors will lock and unlock again to confirm the step was completed.

  • Press any button on the new, non-programmed remote (this also must be done within 20 seconds, and you will get another door lock cycle to confirm the step was done correctly).

  • Turn the ignition key to the "off" position, shutting off the car engine.
