Husky Products’ New Quest Brake Controller Does it All

Many brake controllers on the market today are extremely simple. Not a bad thing, but for the most part you’re stuck with what their engineer thought would be the best design for all trailers. They’re not all the same—far from it. Each trailer needs its own unique braking algorithm to be safe and easy to control. This is why the Quest from Husky Towing Products impressed us.   |   infinitely Adjusatble Brake Controller quest Brake Controller The Quest is infinitely adjustable. It uses an accelerometer to apply the brakes smoothly and has five different settings in varying degrees of sensitivity. Combine this with the right power output and the Quest can be tailored to any trailer with up to four braking axles. The install was a breeze, as usual, taking only a few minutes. Once done, we picked up our Carson Trailer and Mobile Test Lab and headed for the hills. It would be sink or swim for the Quest. Things are done a bit differently with the Quest. Manual brake operation is applied with a vertical slide, something we’ve never seen before and just makes sense. When grabbing for the brakes, the vertical slide has a more solid feel than horizontal slides. On top are buttons for adjusting power output—buttons, not a wheel. These buttons allowed us to hit the exact power setting we were going for the first time instead of hunting back and forth with a wheel. The button on the side controls sensitivity. Once the Quest was dialed in, we could barely feel the trailer brakes apply. The trailer’s brakes were then in perfect harmony with our tow rig’s. The power ramped up under hard braking, but what was really nice was the Quest seemed to shut off power all together during slow, parking, or backing maneuvers where the brakes weren’t necessary. The Quest is a winner in our book.   |   infinitely Adjusatble Brake Controller quest Brake Controller Installed
