Auto Insurance Claims: Private Property fender bender, body shop business, chipped paint

Question
Hi there!
I live on a farm and my drive way is about a half kilometer long and then goes out into a lot which could hold at least 8 cars. When you come to the bottom of the lane way when you first drive in theres a tree and some grass. I park in the spot next to the grass. One morning I was backing up to leave my house and someone was coming down the lane way to the parking area. Needless to say I backed into him while he was coming down the drive way. I didn't see him and I suppose he didn't see me either. Whats on his car is cosmetic damage. A bit of chipped paint. He contacted me today (3 weeks after) and said he spoke with his brother whose in the body shop business and stated it would cost 300 dollars but he will do it for 200 dollars. Which I understand I guess but whose fault is it? I'm a student and have NO money to even pay in installments for this. I'm not too sure what I'm suppose to do. He said I can try to do it myself but I have no idea on how to do this stuff. I was just going to give him touch up paint? I'm not sure what to do, I'm a little worried here.

Answer
It would appear that the car going in the driveway had the right of way, so you are at fault. Consider yourself lucky that he has a friend who will repair the damage at a discount. If you cannot afford to pay for the repair, I suggest you turn it into your insurance company.
