Auto Insurance Claims: Selling care, private sale value, maughan

Question
My father, who lives in Florida, recently purchased a used  2006 Honda.  Unfortunately, he took at a loan and before the first payment was made had an accident due to a stroke.  As he can no longer drive, we are debating how to sell the car.
My  question is two fold: 1) As we don't have time to sell the car ourselves should we attempt selling back to the dealer?
2) Do we need to disclose the body repair due to the accident?

Answer
Hi Joan-

I'm sorry to hear about your father.

I think you will get very poor value if you sell the car back to the dealer.  I would go onto KBB.com and see what the trade in value is and the private sale value is and figure somewhere just over trade in value if you want to sell it quick.  Then I would put it on Craigs list or some other website and sell it one weekend and be done with it.

If you used a reputable body shop, your car should be good as new.  I wouldn't bring it up, but if they ask I would be honest.

Good Luck
