Auto Insurance Claims: Is it normal to be called into court for a stolen vehicle insurance claim?, insurance claim, accessories shop

Question
My father filed a claim for his car which disappeared from a local accessories shop along with the shop's owner who left the place. We got a call from a law firm representing the insurance company saying we need to show up in court to give a statement. Is this normal?

Answer
Hi Alex,

Although it is not normal, it sounds as if the insurance company has developed enough evidence to charge someone with the theft. They are asking you to come to court to testify about what happened and what you did and what you knew about the events.

I hope this helps
