Auto Insurance Claims: loss of use, replacing a head gasket, windstorm damage

Question
my policy (full coverage) has add coverage loss of use  $25.00 a day/$750 max.
does this cover rental car when my car is in the shop for major repair.seems that nobody can answer this
thank you

Answer
Hi Hermi,

Yes and NO.  The answer is NO, if the "major repairs" are simply mechanical work, not the result of an accident or other damage covered by the policy.  Hence, if the "major repairs" were replacing a head gasket, then your insurance will not cover that.

Your insurance will only kick in if you have a loss as described in the policy.  For example, windstorm damage is under comprehensive and an accident is under collision.

Thus, if your "major repairs" were as a result of either of those, then the answer is YES, the repair time would be covered up to $750 for the rental car, at the rate of $25 per day.
