Auto Insurance Claims: injured non insured motorist ?, dental expenses, front tooth

Question
I am selling my car to my son,we were at a red light and were rear ended by another car,My son who was driving hit his mouth on the steering wheal. The next day he lost his front tooth.I have the police reports & the mans insurance info,But I am not sure what will become of it because We had no insurance at the time. Will this matter? How do we go about getting his mouth fixed by the gentleman's insurance? We were in no way at fault. But had no insurance on our car at the time. Can we still file a claim? Thank-you.

Answer
Hi Andrea,

It does not matter that you had no insurance. You will need to make a claim directly with the at-fault drivers insurance company.  They will not pay the cost of medical/dental expenses up front.  You will need to have the teeth repaired, then present them with a demand for payment letter along with the bills. You should ask for 2 to 3 times the amount of the medical bills to include compensation for pain & suffering.

I hope this helps
