Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC on 2000 Ford Taurus LX 4.0 V6, ford taurus lx, ford taurus

Question
QUESTION: I am trying to recharge coolant in the above car. I was sold R134a coolant. I cannot find the low pressure connector to charge it. on the right side there is a connector, but it seems to be the High Pressure and seems to go to the condenser.

ANSWER: John,
On the 2000 Taurus, the low side connector is located on your low side line that connects your evaporator housing to your accumulator/drier. You will find this on the passenger side of the vehicle near the firewall and strut tower. You will know the low side from the high side by the size of the fitting. The low side fitting is smaller in diameter than the high.

QUESTION: is R134a coolant the proper type?

Answer
John,
Sorry about that, I didn't realize that you were asking me that as part of your question. Yes, on any vehicle manufactured from late 1991 to present, they require R134a as the refrigerant.
