Auto body repair & detailing: Center to center of wheels measurement is incorrect., wheel spindle, stud bolt

Question
I recently purchased a used 1997 Ford Mustang. I noticed the drivers side front wheel sits closer to the rear of the wheel well than the passengers side. A measured the center to center of both wheels on each side (front to back) and the measurements differ by about an inch. Sometime in the past the car was in a collision but was repaired. Is there an adjustment that can fix this issue? I noticed the front sub-frame has slotted holes underneath. Any information may help me in seeking the correct remedy. Thanks, Brett

Answer
Brett,  to determine suspension location first measure lower control arm center of lower ball joint ,either stud bolt or grease fitting  this should be the same side to side. its hard to tell by measuring wheel spindle without a alignment gauge/tracking gauge.  start here  if off look for movement  of sub frame    Bill
