Auto body repair & detailing: Refinishing, hairs, thanks in advance

What does "refinishing" mean from a bodyshop perspective? Thanks in advance.

Basically, to paint. It's pretty much all encompassing, because anything we do is technically the second time around. If  put on a new door, I'm refinishing the door, because it had a door on it before that had paint on it. If you want to split hairs, painting is putting paint on a new, never painted panel- refinishing is painting a previously painted part. Bill
