QuestionHi there. This AM I did the stupidest thing and rear ended the back of a scion (I'm pretty sure it was an Xa). NO major damage was caused, but the bolt of my license plate made an imprint of itself in her bumper. It basically pushed itself in there without actually puncturing the metal. My question is, will a body shop have to completely replace teh bumper or can they just fill it with something and achieve the same result (as if nothing ever happened)? THanks so much!!!
AnswerHello Melissa! Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. Its called an accident for a reason. Yes, the body shop will be able to repair the cover, providing there is no additional damage. The bumper is plastic, and most folks just initially see the point of impact. The bumper can tear and deform in a large area around the impact site, and believe me, a body shop WILL see it. If it puts your mind at rest, have the owner show you, in detail, all the damage. Now, remember, you were at fault. Sometimes, it just isn't worth fighting over a few hundred bucks. In my experience, you would come out on the short end, should you challenge the claim in court. You will still have to pay for the damage, plus court costs, plus lost wages.
