Auto Parts: mitsubishi montero limited 2004 engine, mitsubishi montero, mechanic shops

Question
My mechanic says i nd my engine replaced and he cant find one cause its rare.  My question is does it need to be replaced with the exact year, make and model? Also im looking all over the internet for an engine. Which salvage yard in Texas, perferably San Antonio do you recommend? Or maybe one in the U.S that ships?  Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Tryna,

First to answer your engine swap question, it is highly recommended the you swap engines with a vehicle of the same make, model year and engine size that is in your vehicle currently.  This will ensure that everything fits properly and that all connections are the same as what you have now.

Second,  Most all salvage yards are the same.  The quality of what they have is also the same regardless of where you go, its all salvage, from junk cars.  Most will offer you the ability to ship to you or your mechanic, however there will be fees involved for shipping.

I am not very familiar with salvage yards around your area, i recommend calling around to mechanic shops and asking if they can recommend any.  Also you can go onto google and google search for salvage/junk yards in your area.  You would be amazed at how many often pop up.

I hope this was helpful to you.

Please let me know if i can be of further assistance to you, and keep me advised of your progress.

Thank you and Good Luck.
