Auto Parts: F150 4.9L engine swap, ford f150, different computer

Question
I have a 1990 Ford F150 with the 4.9 engine. I can get a good replacement 4.9L motor from a 1995 F150. Just wanted to know if this is a direct swap or are there differences that need to be considered before attempting. Thanks

Answer
The engine is the same, but the engine controls are not.  So, if you are willing to transfer over the different parts to the new engine, you shouldn't have a problem.  Basically, you are going to use the block and head as a unit and change any other parts that are different.  You can probably get away with the old manifolds and injectors, maybe the distributor, and most likely the water pump.  I would change all of the small parts (sensors, etc.) just in case, 'cause the '95 does use a different computer.  I'm surprised to hear that your old engine is worn out, they almost never really break.
