Auto Parts: Replacement of headlight assembly 97 Yukon, pep boys, repair vehicles

Question
I bought a new headlight assembly for the drivers side of my '97 Yukon.  It was supposed to come with installation instruction, didn't.  I need to know how to remove and replace the old one.  Do I have to remove the front bezel?  The auto store told me I install it from the inside, but can't believe that.  Would have to remove a ton of stuff.  Owners manual says to remove screw next to radiator bracket.  Isn't one there.  Appreciate the help.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Ted,

Bulbs are replaced from behind as the auto store said but they probably thought you were ONLY replacing the bulb.

To remove the entire assembly from your vehicle will require removing the grille an the outer park/turn lamp to gain access to the bracket mounts. Once these pieces are removed you'll see the mounting fasteners for the bracket and should have no problem from there. Depending on the model of Yukon, some of the assemblies had two fasteners on the back of the unit which mounted to the header panel.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
