Auto Parts: toyota sienna ecm, power door locks, keyless entry system

Question
I really need help but the repair people all say maxed out so I thought I would give you a try if you dont mind.  My Toyota Sienna 02 all of a sudden stopped allowing me to use the keyless entry system and the power door locks and dome lights dont work.  I checked all fuses and all look fine.  I went online and found a lot of other people seem to be having the same issue and someone was told it was most likely a bad ECM or ECU.  My manual does not show this ECM or ECU and I wondered if you could tell me where in the engine it is and if you think this is correct advice and where to get one if it is where it does not cost $500 I really hope you can help me figure this one out.  I am pretty good at solving simple issues on cars but this one has me stumped.  Thanks in advance!  Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy,

There are NO simple electrical problems.

The theft controller is located in the left-dash, near the steering column and should display one of the ID's listed here: 8973008030 or 8973008031.

As far as if that's your problem or possible solution, I do not know. Sorry, I wish I were able to help more.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
