Auto Parts: Ball Joint Question, toyota mr2 spyder, mr2 spyder

Question
I have permanently lubed ball joints on my 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder. However while working with the control arm I accidentally squeazed out a lot of the grease. I have a needle that I can slip in the tiny gap at the top of the boot but don't know what kind of grease to put in there. I do not want to just put in plain multipurpose grease since that would mean having to redo it every few months meaning I would have to take my control arm off again. Is there any place I can get the original grease that came in the boot?

I should make note that both my boot and ball joint are in perfect order and do not need to be replaced.

Answer
Hi Sam,

It's apparent you don't know what multi-purpose grease is. You can ABSOLUTELY put that in the ball joint since that is what is lubricating every single other ball joint and front end part on the planet. Multi-purpose grease is also water-resistant so it typically won't just 'wash away' when you splash through a puddle.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
