Auto Parts: Transmission interchange., toyota camry v6, toyota camry

Question
I have a 99 Toyota Sienna with the transmission going out. I would like to know if a 93 Toyota Camry V6 transmission would be compatible with my Toyota Sienna. It shows the exact transmission model A540E on both vehicles. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Ray,

Correct, the part number, or in this case, the transmission style codes match because both of the transmissions are internally identical. The difference is the case.

The older Camry has a 3VZ-FE 3.0L engine and the newer Sienna uses a 1MZ-FE 3.0L engine and the bell-housings are a different diameter as well as a different crankshaft offset angle. If you know a good transmission specialist who wouldn't mind remanufacturing your Sienna trans with the Camry parts, that is an option albeit probably an expensive one.

I have great used transmissions for your Sienna with 68K on it and I can ship it to a shop near you (or any commercial address) for $825.00 which includes a 30-day warranty and freight!

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
