Auto Parts: Cold Air Intake, cool air intake, cold air intake

I was thinking about buying a cold air intake for my 94 grand am gt.  It has a 3.1 ltr V6.  I was looking on ebay, and there are lots of different kits I can buy from 10 dollars to 100.  How cheap is too cheap?  I don't wanna buy a piece of crap, but I also don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for a kit when a lesser one will do just as good of a job.

The first thing your going to want to look for when purchasing a Cold air intake is if its actually a Cold air intake and not a Cool air intake. Allot of the intake applications you find on ebay are just aftermarket open air filter aluminum piping. and really have no effects other then increased air flow, which isn't a bad effect. But what you want to look for is an actually Cold Air Intake that relocates the air filter to a location less prone to engine heat and receives more induction from outside the engine compartment. As for price, it is possible to find just the right one for $10, like they say, get it on ebay...
