Car Alarms: Auto remote starter, auto remote starter, subaru outback

Question
I bought a 2002 Subaru Outback used back in Jan. 2009  It came with a Viper automatic starter.  After the negative cable to the battery was replaced the auto starter will not start the car.  I can still lock and unlock the doors with the remote however I cannot start the car with remote???  Any suggestions?
