Car Alarms: Jeep Liberty Car Alarm, alarmtek, jeep liberty

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and the car alarm goes of all the time. It will do it 4-5 times in a couple of days and then wont do it again for a month or so. I thought it was a few things like parking to close to one of the bushes that could rub up against it and I was told to change out the batteries in the key chain. But nothing is working. Why would it just go off when no one is around it?

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Its a factory alarm system. Lights flashing, and horn honking.

Answer
That's problematic as this year Liberty may have a recall
notice on it. I would make an appointment to have the
local dealership put it on a diagnostic to discover
the cause. I would ONLY be speculating here about the
ignition sensor going bad, being the cause.
(that's what this sounds like)

Have them find out for sure.
