Car Alarms: Toyota TDS system, valet mode, toyota camry

I have a dealer installed TDS alarm system in my 1997 Toyota Camry.  I understand it was installed in cars by dealers in the southeast.  The remote stopped working one day and I had to put it in valet mode.  Since then, I replaced the battery in the remote and now I can't seem to get it to work in alarm mode.  The red button only unlocks all 4 doors.  The black and green buttons do nothing.  Are you familiar with this older system, and do you know what I need to do to get it to work.  Do I need to reprogram the remote?  If so, do you know how to do it?
