Car Alarms: loss of communication between fob and car, 4runner, inset

Question
My 1999 4runner has lost communication between the fob remote and the vehicle. Over time it took more and more preses of the fob to activate the alarm, until now it does not work at all. I have replaced the battery in the fob and tested it at an auto parts store to confirm it is still working. Can I adjust sensitivity of the sensor in the vehicle? Where is it located in my vehicle? Thanks.

Answer
Not certain of the system, but MOST knock/impact
sensors have a wheel inset into it to turn up or down
(counter clockwise is down).

Locate the sensor under the dash and turn down or
simply unplug it. Should be a little oblong box
wire tied up high under the dash, and would
blink when it detects vibration.

Good luck.
