Car Alarms: Hyundi Elantra Factory Panic Alarm going off by iteslf, hyundai elantra, keyless entry system

Question
07 Hyundai Elantra (28000 miles) factory installed panic alarm has started to go off by itself when the car is parked.  Both key fabs appear to be working (locking/unlocking doors and trunk etc.) When it happens the the horn goes off and the headlights blink.  Sometimes, we cannot stop it when it happens, sometimes it will stop when we hit any button on the key fab.  If we can't stop it, it will stop by itself after 30 seconds.  Both key fabs are in good shape, 1 hardly used.  The car does not have an alarm, only a keyless entry system with a panic alarm feature.  Can a dying key fab battery trip this alarm?  Is something like this typically covered under a warranty?   Any suggestions as to what's causing it or if this is a common problem.  Can the system be disabled?
