Car Alarms: MR2 alarm goes off for no reason, toyota dealer, toyota mr2

Question
I have a 2003 Toyota MR2 with factory alarm system.  When I am parked at work or some mall parking lots, the alarm goes off when I lock and walk about 100 feet away.  The lights flash and the horn honks.  When I go back and unlock it, it sounds the tone that it's supposed to when someone has set off the alarm while I'm away.
We've tried to recreate at home, but can't.  Toyota dealer says they have no clue what's going on.
Can you give us an idea what might be causing the problem? Or something to try?

Answer
HMMM, COULD BE SOMEONE ELSE HAS A SIMILAR ALARM AND
IS ON THE SAME FREQUENCY WITH YOURS. IT'S HARD TO SAY
EXACTLY THE TROUBLE, BUT IT'S LIKELY TO HAPPEN
IN A PARKING LOT WITH HUNDREDS OF CARS.

I WOULD NEED TO MOVE IT AROUND, TESTING DIFFERENT AREAS
TO MAKE A DETERMINATION ON IT THOUGH. HAVE AN AFTER MARKET
ALARM GUY DO AN EVALUATION ON IT TO BE CERTAIN
ALL IIS WELL.

WISH I HAD SOMETHING MORE SOLID
FOR YOU TO GO ON.

GOOD LUCK.
