Car Alarms: Mitsubishi 2002 GALANT GTZ ALARM PROBLEM, mitsubishi 2002, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: I have a mitsubishi 2002 galant gtz with a factory alarm. Several times a day the alarm activates for no reason. I disconnected the horn fuse since it was very loud everytime it went off. The problem is now that the front lights still flash when it goes off and takes away alot of juice from my battery constantly... How can I stop the alarm from going off ??? How Can I disconnect the alarm ??? Is there a sensitivity switch ??? How can I stop the lights from blinking...?

Thank You

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: flashing parking lights... When the alarm activates for no reason at all. Takes power away from my battery.

How do i stop this?

Answer
It's likely to be an after market system.

To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is to remove the alarm.
This might require a local technician to
identify it, and affect neccesary service for you.

That should solve the troubles.

Let me know what you discover.
