Car Alarms: Keypad disfunction, gm dealer, alarm button

Question
I just purchased my 2000 camaro in October 2008 and have never experienced any problems before today... I went to get my hair done and when I went in it locked like normal, when i came out it wouldn't do ANYTHING. the doors wouldn't lock or unlock the alarm button wasn't working and the trunk wasn't popping open. my father picked me up and we bought a new battery for the keypad which also did not work. I have on two other occasions however experienced that when I didn't have my keypad, unlocking my doors with my actual key set off my alarm and nothing could turn it off untill i found my keypad. i immediatly put my key into the ignition like the seller had mentioned but it wouldn't stop. I am now afraid that even if i find a way for the alarm to stop, i may still not be able to drive my vehicle. please help...

Answer
Unfortunately, not an easy fix.

This car has all kinds of stupidity going on in the door lock
and security end of things.
Normally the factory remote is the only thing
that will turn orr the system.
Sometime if that won't work, the key in the frivers
door, turn left to disarm, and right to unlock
doe the trick.

If this all fails, You will need to tow it into the local
GM dealer for service. They will need to reset it.
