Car Alarms: 1998 dodge caravan alarm poltergeist, dodge caravan, dash area

Hi;
I do not use my car alarm and do not have the control for it.  When I replaced the battery thee alarm went off and I can't figure out how to disarm it.  I've tried to unlock the car with the key but to no avail.  I tried taking the wire off of the battery and removing the memory fuse.  I don't really no what to do.

The unlocking of the door puzzles me. Never saw a mechanical
door lock "frozen" because of an alarm.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?
