Car Alarms: 2000 dodge alarm goes off by itself, keyless entry system, dodge neon

Question
QUESTION: I recently changed the battery in my 2000 dodge neon and everyday, when I lock the doors, the alarm would trigger itself at times and the headlight, tail lights and turn signals would flash and the horn would sound until I come by and unlock the doors. The solution I've been using temporarily  is locking the doors manually so the alarm won't arm. Would resetting the alarm solve the problem? How do I reset the alarm then? Disabling completely the alarm would be the last solution I want to resort to. Thank you.

ANSWER: Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. In the Neon,
the door locks also arm and disarm the factory
car alarm. The solution is to agg a keyless entry
system to the car so that when remotely unlocked,
it would disram the alarm as well.

The other option is to go to Dodge and
see if they can program a factory transmitter to the
current power door locks. Not certain if that's doable,
but a keyless entry system would be around
50.00 and is always available as an option.

Good luck with whichever way you go here.

Have a good day.

QUESTION: Here is the exact situation: the 2000 dodge neon came equipped with a factory keyless entry system. When I use the keyless remote control or the key to lock the doors, the alarm would arm and monitor the car (normal situation). But, at times, headlights, tail lights and turn signals would flash and horn would sound until I unlock the doors using the remote keyless command. Then I would lock the doors again and the same situation would repeat. Now I manually lock the doors to get some sleep and peace of mind but of course the alarm doesn't monitor anything. Your first reply to my question assumed that I don't use the keyless command to unlock the doors when the alarm is triggered but I actually do. Thank you.

Answer
That being said, it is programmed to do certain things
only. If yours is malfunctioning somehow,
then the obvious decision here since it is the
factory system, is that you do get it inspected
by the manufacturer (Dodge) so that they
can determine the root cause of this trouble
and get it squared away without any undue
testing.

There is not alot you can do personally to
correct or change the features on this one.

Sorry, but my expertise is in the after market
application of alarms. This one Dodge may need
to evaluate and reset for you.

Let me know what they discover.
