The thing that occurs when I open my car door is the following:
Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded "SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?

-----Question-----
I have an mx6 that came with an alarm already installed in it.. When I lock my doors the alarm is automatically set. however whenever I open my door... with my own key...the alarm always goes off and the only way to shut it off is by opening and closing my trunk. Is there a way I can open my car without the alarm going off without having to shut the alarm completely off? Than you for your time.
-----Answer-----
Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many variables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more input please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

Answer
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
yellow/red or, green/black |-|,
Located in the drivers door harness or,
at the factory alarm, built into the fuse box.

Once Located, splice into either wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steal, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
