Car Alarms: 96 4 runner limited alarm, auto reset, alarm auto, doors

we just bought this 96 4 runner limited with the factory alarm, once you exit the 4 runner and close the doors it auto resets the alarm, even if not locked. You open the door to load up or get something out and in 15 seconds the alarm goes off, My question is this, any way to turn off this auto reset function, so it just works when locked?

Take a look at your owner's manual and see if there is a way to turn this feature off.  I was not aware that the factory alarm on your 4 runner could be set to passive arm.  If you do not have your owner's manual or can not find any reference to that feature in the manual I would suggest posting your question to: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/
