Car Alarms: Starting disabled due to anti-theft system, cadillac eldorado, gm dealer

Question
I have a '90 Cadillac Eldorado. When I got it 6mon ago it came with an after-market detachable kill switch(key card) already installed. I had taken it to a buddy who works at a Honda dealership installing alarms and had the kill switch replaced with a keyless-entry alarm. It worked fine, until I started having problems with the starter. The starter wasn't turning over properly(click) which led to repeated cranks n battery drainage, so a Few times I had to get a jump to start her up. I went to auto zone n had them check my battery, alternator... fine. The next day Im goin' to the store n it starts fine... get to the store, turn the car off n arm. When I try to leave, no crank(click) with the message *starting disabled due to anti-theft system* on the console. I checked my car manual n it says problem is the PASS key system, I checked n cleaned the diamond cut chip in the key- fine, checked n cleaned ignition. After trying to start the message on the computer says wait 3min *I guess to reset something* then says, Start... but nothing. Please help before I take it to have a diagnostic run!

Answer
Not alot you can do here except go to
your local GM dealer (any will do) and have the
service department inspect & repair the VATS-
PASSLOCK II vehicle anti theft system.

They have this system in the dealer repair only
database, and there is not an easy way for an outside
mechanic or soure to fix it. One of the drawbacks
that this system presents is that no one else
can service this device except GM.

But they will be able to nail down the issue,
and reset it at least.

Let me know what you find.
