I went to http://www.remotesunlimited.com/FCCSearch.aspx and the did not list my FCC # in the pull down menu. I believe this is an OEM sytem because the original owner ordered this car from Mitsubishi.
Additional text on the back of the remote is as follows,
CANADA 1814 101 453, CANADA 210
I have just purchased a used 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante and the remote keyless entry does not function whenever any of the 4 buttons are pushed. The small LED lights and blinks and then goes out each time you press a button. I have installed a new battery and still no operation. On the back of the remote it says FCC ID E4EG8DF, OMRON G8D-405M-A. Is there a need to re-program this remote, or a way to test the unit to verify operation. I am basically a newbee when it comes to this. I appreciate your response and advice.

It sound like and aftermarket alarm/keyless system.
Start by trying to ID it at www.remotesunlimited.com
and once dione, I can better advise you on what
to do from that point.

AnswerThen I am assuming it's a Mitsubishi remote, and I
won't be able to assist you on this one, save to say
it would be infinately cheaper to replace the system
with a brand new one, that would take an hour
to install with 2 new transmitters to boot,
then it would be to track down & replace the old,
limited range remote transmitter.
However, if that is what's desired,
locate the Mitsubishi dealer near you, and
go to the parts department.
That would be your next logocal step,
if you want to make the original
(OEM) system to work.
By the way, the range on that would be less
then 20 ft. If it is indeed the factory remote.
Aftermarket systems usually are 200+ feet
and flash the parking lights as well.
