Towing Issues: Moving with Car Carrier & Max Weights, vehicle weights, car trailers

Question
I'm doing a long distance move, wa to ca. I have a vehicle that weighs ~4400 lbs. I'm trying to rent a car carrier to tow behind the moving truck.  But the main moving companies state the max vehicle weight for the carrier as ~4000 lbs.  My vehicle must be towed off of all 4 wheels, so a car carrier/trailer is the only option. I could carry it on an empty tank without the spare and that'd remove about 150 lbs.

I'm wondering if you know how conservative the moving companies are in their max vehicle weights for the trailers?  Are their numbers realistic, or lower than the actual ratings of the trailers?  Is 250-400 lbs in excess really enough to not use the car carrier?   Thanks for your help.

Answer
I take it you are talking about using U Haul, Budget or Ryder's car trailers, during this move... LEGAL LIABILITY is the key in their rules on what can be done with their trailers.

I can not tell you what or if it would work, as they own the trailers and as such have created the limits to be carried... Tire sizes and ratings are one of the big keys here, along with axle ratings..

Plus what size vehicle is going to be doing the towing..

It is just one of those questions I can not really answer for that reason...
