Car Stereos: amp and speaker, rockford fosgate punch, dual voice coil

Question
hi i wanna buy a rockford fosgate punch p1000-1db amp, first is it a good amp for hitting your subs hard, and if so wut kind of subwoofers (not too expensive) shuld i get, and please how wuld b the best way to wire them

Answer
Hi Chris,

The P1000-1BD is a very good amplifier if you're planning to use it with a 1-ohm load. It would be a good match with a pair of dual voice coil, 4-ohm subwoofers, such as Alpine's Type R or Rockford Fosgate P3's.  You'd want to wire both subs with the voice coils in parallel, and wired in parallel to the amplifier, to end up with a 1-ohm load at the amp's speaker terminals.  This allows the amplifier to produce its full rated power of 1000 watts RMS.  The power produced will be divided evenly between the two subs, so be sure the subs you purchase are rated for 500 watts RMS apiece; and make sure they're dual 4-ohm designs.

Hope this helps!
