Car Stereos: Car Amplifiers, sony xplod, first 9 months

Question
i purchased a sony xplod 1000w amp and a sony 12 in sub. the whole system was professionally installed and worked great for the first 9 months then my amp started to blow fuses all the time and would get really, really HOT. my wiring is fine... any idea's why my amp is getting too hot? thanx

Answer
Chelsea,  If your amp is blowing fuses, the wiring is not fine.  Usually, your type of problem is caused by a weak connection.  Usually, the ground wire coming from the amp has gotten corroded or loose where it is attached to the car.  Pull that connection loose and clean it up.  Then reconnect it and tighten it up.  That should fix it.  If it doesn't, then the problem is between the amp and the speakers.  Make sure all of those wires are tight and not pinched anywhere.  If you are still having problems, it will probably require running new wires, because a wire is broken or tore inside the insulation.  Hope this helps, Scott
