Car Stereos: Custom Box build, chevy tahoe, tape measure

Question
I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe and I am wanting to build a custom box under the back seat to fit two 10' sub-woofers, do you have any web sites in mind that you can refer me to that might have the dimensions I will need to be able to build it.

Answer
Kurt,

The size of the box is based purely on your building abilities.  I have built many different boxes for many different vehicles, and it boils down to how much work I want to put into the box.  If you just want to build a rectangular box, it works the best to just lay down your tape measure along all sides and get measurements without interruptions.  If you want to maximize your space and build around brackets, then it will take more measurements to work out all dimensions.  And so on, if you want to build a fiberglass enclosure with total space usability, it will take alot of work removing seat and building box inside your car.  Many aftermarket boxes are built pretty well to maximize space.  You cannot use those dimensions without planning to spend alot of time to build the box.  The easiest and cheapest way is to measure for a rectangular box.  I hope this helps, Scott
